ARTIST STATEMENT

The silver lining of the Covid lockdowns for me included a return to art, after close to a thirty-year gap from making art as a school student. I had time to practise and an absence of multiple demands on my time. In addition, I live in a beautiful rural setting and holiday frequently in beautiful natural environments.

The sky is oblivious to the world’s problems, consistently providing us with the most magical and inspiring sunsets or other cloud formations. I particularly enjoy coastal or mountainous environments. I watch nature change with the seasons and adapt my artistic style to the prevailing weather, often working quickly with a range of implements and techniques to put paint on the paper or canvas in addition to a brush. This process brings me much joy.

Through my work I have also brought pleasure to others. I use my paintings to print cards which can be shared with many. I welcome commissions.

In 2021 I completed an eight-week acrylic painting course with Alison Percy at Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA). This, together with one day of oil painting instruction are the only formal art training I have had but I have been committed to accumulating 'time under the brush.' During Covid I offered friends and associates the opportunity to paint a visual record of places they loved. In May 2021 I ran a fundraising effort Bron Martin Painting for SANE Australia.

When not painting I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; teaching English; collaborating with colleagues; snow skiing; playing tennis; walking my dog Milo, and reading. When teaching I am particularly interested in working with students to develop their analytical, critical observation and creative thinking skills … all of which I use whilst painting.

I AM, I HAVE
Emanuela Milosavljevic

26 April - 24 May, 2026

We’re pleased to host “I AM, I HAVE”, a reflective and personal session led by local artist Emanuela. This experience brings together conversation and artwork, exploring creativity, identity, and the process of finding your own path.

In Emanuela’s words:
“I AM, I HAVE is both a statement pointing to identity and an effort to focus on the present.

My journey has been centred on breaking through inner barriers to creativity. I didn’t begin with a clear path or early opportunity to pursue art — in fact, quite the opposite — and I know many others share that experience in their own way.

Together, we’ll explore what creativity is, what holds us back, and how we might begin to move toward a more authentic expression of self. I’ll also share insights into my own work — where ideas come from, how they evolve, and how to approach building technical skills later in life.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to share this space with you.”

Join us at Stable Studios for an open, thoughtful session in a warm and welcoming environment.
